A Unique Leadership Opportunity
Defour Partnership is proud to be working in partnership with SJOG Hospitaller Services to recruit a Registered Manager for The Oaklea Convent.
This is a rare opportunity to lead a truly unique residential community that has been home to the Sisters of Mercy for many years.
More than managing a service, you’ll become part of a community built on compassion, dignity and respect. Working alongside the Sisters, your colleagues and healthcare professionals, you’ll ensure exceptional care is delivered whilst preserving the values, heritage and mission that make this community so special.
If you’re an experienced Registered Manager looking for a role with genuine purpose, where relationships matter as much as regulation, we’d love to hear from you.
About the role:
As Registered Manager, you’ll provide visible, compassionate leadership across every aspect of The Oaklea Convent, creating an environment where the Sisters feel safe, respected and truly at home.
You’ll lead an experienced and committed team, ensuring outstanding, person-centred care is delivered every day whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality, governance and regulatory compliance.
Working closely with the Head of Older Communities, the Sisters of Mercy, families, healthcare professionals and external partners, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operation of the service, ensuring it continues to flourish whilst embracing SJOG’s values of Hospitality, Compassion and Respect.
This is a role for someone who enjoys leading from the front, supporting others to succeed and continually improving services so that every resident receives the very best care.
About You
You’ll be an experienced care leader who combines strong operational management with warmth, emotional intelligence and a genuine commitment to person-centred care with strategic thinking ability and confidence in communications.
You’ll bring:
• A Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification (or equivalent).
• Significant management experience within elderly care.
• A strong understanding of CQC regulations, safeguarding and quality assurance.
• Experience leading, developing and inspiring high-performing teams.
• Confidence managing compliance, quality, budgets and service performance.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A collaborative leadership style that values partnership, openness and continuous improvement.
• Above all, you’ll be someone who leads with kindness, integrity and respect, recognising the privilege of supporting the Sisters of Mercy within their own community.
Why Join SJOG?
• This is more than a Registered Manager position.
• It’s an opportunity to lead a service with a rich heritage and strong sense of purpose, where compassionate leadership is genuinely valued.
You’ll benefit from:
• Leading a unique and well-established residential community.
• Joining one of the UK’s most respected charitable care providers.
• Working within an organisation whose values genuinely shape everyday practice.
• Support from an experienced senior leadership team.
• The opportunity to influence quality, culture and continuous improvement.
• Leading a dedicated team committed to delivering exceptional care.
